The Bartimaeus Trilogy

I recently borrowed a book from a coworker who was in the middle of the series. Its kind of like Harry Potter but darker. Instead of fun wands, a school full of kids and a really cool game you play while flying on a broom there is only one kid and his demon. Nicodemus is give away by his birth parents to the magicians so that he might grow up to be a magician and they could get money. Nicodemus, is a smart kid who excels in his studies and wants to push his boundaries of course he gets himself into all kinds of trouble and thats where the fun of the book is. Plus the demon, Bartimaeus is very witty and sarcastic and always seems to get the better of his enemies. Its a very easy read and I really enjoyed the story. I am just starting the second book.
