Christmas blog

Every year my mom sends out a bunch of cards with the new family photo and an update on all of our lives. Its always interesting what she writes about me because well...i don't do anything exiting during the year. If i was going to write about myself it would be some like this.

James is still working at the shop and still playing video games.

That's all i got. I bet she words it a little differently but that's the basic gist.

So this is my Christmas blog where I update you on my take of what my family has been up to and of course the family picture.

My mom decided that this year we were going to start a new tradition (which I already think sucks) of waking up at 9am on black Friday and taking pictures in front of "the oldest tree in world". This tree apparently makes photos look better and will awe you. If you cant tell that the tree is amazing its because we are standing in front of it and you can only see a very small portion but if we did take a very far way shot where you could see the whole tree...THEN you would be amazed.

Apparently blogger doesn't want me to post a picture so I will have to try another time. Have i mentioned that I don't like the new beta blogger? First of all it tricked me into changing my blog from the old format to the new one and now it wont let me do all the things i normally do. Like changing my is to Is!

Hey finally it worked.

Fried Turkey

My turkey day was great. If any of you were wondering what the best way to cook a turkey. The answer is frying it. This was the first year that my family decided to try it. (I have been addicted to frying lately..why not a turkey?) Also frying bigger things might be scarier it is also a lot more fun. We also cooked a regular turkey (which was dull and no fun) just in case we screwed up the other one or burnt down the garage.

The entire turkey was black and crispy. It didn't look good, but upon further investigation we found that it was just the seasoning and the skin was in fact delicious. I was already full because we put the turkey in late and I couldn't wait so I ate plate loads of dressing. I figured I would take one bite and it would be gross and that would be the end of it....but no. It was sooo good my eyes teared up (not really) and I fell to my knees and cried (also didn't happen but creates a good effect just how good the turkey was). What really happened is I loaded up my plate yet again and started to finish the turkey. I felt like Joey in the Friends Episode where he is going to finish the turkey himself, only I didn't have turkey eating pants. It was a bitter sweet moment because it was soo good yet i was sooo full. I had the greatest nap later on.

In other less important news. I pulled my other hammy. Now i am like a 60 year old man. My right knee is screwed up and now my left hammy is pulled. Watching me get up out of chairs has to be comical for everyone around me because it takes a bit and sometime I just say screw it and decide i didn't need a refill. Thanks, Gibbs for taking care of me! I should be fine in a couple of weeks but right now ill just have to take it easy. I guess that means more time in front of the computer. Yay!

New and improved Blogger!

I don't really see a big difference but i wouldn't say i paid to much attention to the old blogger. Hopefully the fixed the problem where i couldn't log in on some days or even access my page....that would be great.

The PS3 is official on the shelves of stores well not really. People were killing themselves this morning and last night to ensure that they were not the shelves any longer. I would have to say it was the craziest console release that i have heard of thus far. People got shot, pushed into polls while running (doesn't sound bad but the guys jaw got dislocated), trampled and some of them waited 2 days out in the cold and didn't even receive one. All of that for a system that isn't a Nintendo Wii....fools.

The Wii comes out Sunday and i plan to have one. I will not be trampling anyone or even waking up early. Nintendo isnt stupid and knows that there product will sell so they made enough to please everyone. I will simply walk into walmart and pick one up after working at the fields. I may be sick on Monday morning though..my throat is starting to hurt.

Its kind of crazy to me that Thanksgiving is next week. It came up so fast. I have to cook something for next Tuesdays thanksgiving feast at the shop. I don't know what to bring. I am thinking something with potatoes because i have a whole bag of them in my cabinet. That's pretty much all i have. I cant think of anything else. Any ideas?

ok...the new spell checker sucks...it wont fix my lowercase i's!!!!

MLS Championship pics

AHHH OHHH DYN-A-MO!

Last week my dad got 10 tickets to the MLS championship game in Frisco TX. It was Houston Dynamos vs. New England Revolution. I am not a big MLS fan but I couldn't pass up a chance to go to the superbowl of American soccer. It was a small stadium (only 23000 people showed up) Not very big for a championship game and the majority who did were sporting Houston orange. The game was fun, hopefully i will have pictures up tomorrow. There was an entire section of hooligans that were a riot. They threw streamers and all sorts of confetti on the field and it was fun to watch the people run out onto the pitch and try to keep it free of debris. The parking situation was the worst and spending an hour gridlock in it almost ruined the whole drive down.

Houston won in shootouts after the keeper saved the last shot. It was a great save and an even better celebration. A power slide with the ball lifted high! Right in front of us. The regular play was pretty boring. Houston didn't move for the ball very much and was bunched up in the middle to much. They seemed to be playing with a defensive mind set but didn't counter fast enough for it to be effective. The revolution just lacked that one person in the middle of the field that could make it all come together. Alot of the time people made good runs and the person passing the ball was thinking something else and the ball would be turned over. I wasn't really impressed by the playing.

In over time we finally got some action. The revolution squeezed a ball pass the Dynamo defense and one of the guys capitalized on it by putting the ball easily past the keeper in the far lower corner of the net. With only 7 mins left in the game I thought surely we had lost the game but 30 seconds later ching headed in a deflected shot to tie up the game. The place went into hysterics and I hugged everyone around me with an exited "there is hope" embrace. The game is one that I will remember for a long time and it was good to see so many people get excited about soccer. The sport will only get bigger and I cant wait till it is celebrated more then football, or basketball on sportscenter. Its going to happen, its only a matter of time now.

More cheese please!

My grandma was not big on backing cookies when we went to see her. She instead made the best bowl of queso. I would go to their apt and play rummy with my grandad and she would make us queso and corn. What a weird combination but I love queso and I love corn so it worked for me. My grandad was one of those guys who had the funniest cuss words. He never actually had anything bad but he would just make up stuff. He loved to laugh like woody woodpecker and take "shortcuts" that always got us lost. I loved to drive with him though because he and Grandma would always start to argue and it would usually be about nothing. They were both deaf and always yelled when they talked. The TV would always be as loud as it could go, if you don't think golf isn't exiting you just don't have your volume up high enough.

I have been wanting to write something about my grandma for a couple of weeks. I guess I feel guilty for not going to see her. She has Alzheimers and hasn't known who I am for two years now. Last time I saw her was two years ago on her birthday. She just called me a hansom man. I want to go see her but I know if I do I wont be looking at the same grandma I have so many good memories of.

Consumed once again!

Since I got my laptop I have been sucked back into the realm of online gaming. Well I didn't really get sucked in, it was more like I run back and we hugged like old friends who had not seen each other for awhile. It was a nice reunion there were numerous people who were happy to see me come back and it was good to catch up with everyone.

Playing really effects my reading time. Once I pay off my laptop though I will get a subscription to audible.com and listen while I play. Right now I am in the middle of State of Fear. So far its good. Next up is Life of Pi.

Questions

Today is the first time in a long time that a customer walked in and I thought about sending them away because of the content they wanted to put on a shirt. Should I not alow shirts to be printed here that are against what I believe?

My Kind of Weather

Its cold but not ice on the ground cold. The perfect weather to get in your car roll down your windows and just drive listening to good music. Me and Jenkins will do this often this winter. Where are we headed? No where in particular. It just feels good to be on the move. I also will be hitting up Barnes and Noble up a lot. A chai on a cold day with a book or my laptop in front of me, its relaxing.

Also if you haven't tried hot Dr. Pepper with a lime...you should. Its great.

I watched southpark yesterday for the first time in awhile. I hate this show. Last night was the last time I will watch it. It was just gross. It gets away with way to much and I know there are kids whose parents don't censor what they watch who saw that trash last night.
