New York ...Day 5 & 6

Yesterday i got in way to late and was very tired so i didnt post. Hopefully i remember it all. I got in even later today but i dont have anything scheduled in the morning for tomorrow so its all good.

We woke up at 830 to get ready for the 5 hour practice we had. Oh man, talk about a slow rehersal. We have been singing this music for over a year now, we out to have to memorized and not really just working on it, but some of the people in the choir didnt sing with us when we first sang it so they dont know the piece. So rehearsal was slow but lunch was good. I eat at a Cafe Europe, which are everywhere and had a flatbread quesadilla type thing. It was full of chicken and lettuce and all the good sandwhich fixings. It was good. My mom got a Chinese Manderine chicken flatbread thingy and it gave her food poisoning.

So after the rehersal we head back to the apt to find out my dad stood in line and got tickets for Chicago while we were gone. Not bad, i loved the movie so i figure the broadway musical has to be just as good. My mom wasnt feeling good so she took a nap while i watched the end of a soccer game. Finally we woke her up whenever it was time to go to Chicago, she said she felt a little better with the extra sleep.

Chicago

Big let down. I expected more. The actors were not ver good. At this point i have seen 4 shows on broadway this week so far and i would say i would know what is expected and they were easily the worst. The dancing wasnt together, the girls who are supposed to be sexy were butch and set was non existant. Dont get me wrong i had a good time and enjoyed the show but there is a bar that was set from being spoiled by all the other amazing shows that i saw earlier in the week and this broadway show fell very short of my expectations.

After the show we walked home and me and my dad got a taco salad type meal from a street vendor. I had port/steak (whatever it was) with fried rice, letuce and spicy sause and let me tell you it might have been my best meal all night. It supposidly stank and we had to eat it in the lobby of our hotel because my mom wasnt having it in the room but i think she was just sick and had a messed up sence of smell because it smelled like heaven to me :).

She apparently woke up in the evening and puked her brains out, so she says. I didnt wake up and niether did my dad (i guess thats where i get that from). She woke up feeling much better so i guess it was good to get it over with.

this morning we woke up and watched some soccer and then went to get lunch at the espn zone to watch the first half of portugal and Neatherland. The netherlands came outlooking for blood and found some on ranoldo taking him out in the first half. He left the field heartbroken and crying because he could not perform for his team, good job netherlands way to be a bunch of jerks. They came back in the second half still out for blood and went in with a nasty cleats up takle on the portugal goalie. He didnt leave the game but he had a nasty bruise and cut on his leg. The game was very physical and i am glad portugal walked away with the win. Hopefully Ranoldo gets healed up and can play next game.

After that it was off to Carnegie all to sing. We were up first and the whole expirience was one that i will never forget. I really didnt find it any different from any other hall i had ever sung in but everyone was telling me not to forget this moment so i dont think i will. I couldnt hear anyone else singing next to me. It was as if i was singing a solo and that was kind of scray but luckily i knew the music so it didnt matter much. We stood for a good half day and i was sweating up a storm by the time we finished singing. I was soooo glad to be done and sit in a chair and just relax as i listened to the other choirs.

While i was listening to them i realized that i liked pop music and broadway much more then i ever liked classical music. The songs that the other groups sand just put me to sleep. I was boared and wished more then ever to be somewhere else. The hall is amazing i guess. I dont know i dont think i have a trained enough ear to see why it is sooo much better. I guess i would need to yell something and then run in another place and yell to see what the difference is but i couldnt tell what was so special.

After the singing we got to go on a cruise with everyone that sang. It was pretty fun. They had a full bar and i got a couple drinks. I have never really drank in front of my parents before and well it wasnt anything special, its like drinking regular drinks. The cruise took us out and around he statue of liberty which was pretty cool because i have never seen it at night before and we went right past it. So we took alot of pictures of that and then i went around the ship acting as the tech guy and told all the people who were complaining that their camera was broken to turn off their flash. For those that didnt know how to turn it off i showed them that too. We had dinner on the boat and it was ok i guess. At this point its 1am so i knew i wouldnt find anything else so i just ate what was there to fill me up. I had lots of good conversation with a bunch of people i hadnt ever talked to in the choir.

The cruise was aobut 2 hours and then we headed home loaded up the bus and headed home. I could have written more aobut today and yesterday but i am beat and its 3 am so im off to bed. night.

New York ...day 4!!

Its been four days and i feel like i know the city now :). If you know me you know how well i give directions and well i give directions way better then i can navigate things myself. I get lost all the time. Yes the streets are easy they have numbers but the ave. are another story. They should have just given them letters and made things easy, unfortunatly they did that in a part of town no one cares about.

We started off today early. It felt early anyways i just couldnt wake up for a good hour. I packed all of my stuff and moved it to storage and then we were off to Ground Zero. Pretty much it is just a big hole in the groun with alot of construction going on. There were signs up all over the surrounding fence that had all sorts of information about the survivors and those who didnt make it. There was also a table or booth set up behind the fence with a bunch of patches and other things pulled out of the rubble and set up as a sort of memorial site.

Its amazing how big the buildings were. Next time you are near a skyskraper you can pretty much double whatever you are looking at in highth and thats the size of one of the towers. Now imagine it falling. That would be one huge pile of concrete and glass. The videos that you see cant give you a good idea of it. When you are standing there at the site it is just a mind blowing vision.

After we walked around the site we just kept walking towards china town. I would have to say that New York gets more and more like disneyland and epcot the more i walk around. There are rollicoasters ( taxis and actual ones on coney island and other random parts there are feris wheels and meri go rounds), shows (everyewhere on broadway and off), and food/differnt cultures.

China town grew alot since 2001 when i was here last. I remember going down a few street last time but now its over 6 blocks. It surrounded and meshed with little italy. I guess that makes sence seeing as there are 10 asian nations and only 1 italy. There were tons and tons of markets. Ranging from fresh fruit, that looked really good, to fish and meat. We saw a panel van drive up to a butcher shop and just stop. The doors in the back opend up and just laying on the flat of the bed was a huge mound of what looked like lamb legs. Just piled up in the van and the guys just got out and started loading it into the shop. Needless to say i didnt buy anything from there :).

Did you ever wonder where to get fresh live frogs? Well china town has them and tons of fresh fish too. The crabs in the buckets were the coolest because they were just trying to crawl away and the guy kepts snatching them up and selling them to people. The whole thing was really cool. All the pungent and acute smells from china town made us not very hungry for chinese food. Plus the sanitations was a little iffy there. SO we were off to little italy.

I really enjoyed little italy as well. We stopped in shops and browsed around and i even bought an fake authentic Italy Jersy. It only cost me 20 bucks. That was pretty cool. We got over the smells of fish pretty soon after we entered little italy and our hunger returned so we stopped in a local joint and had a great lunch. Afterwards we just started to walk again and headed through all these places i cant remember the names of. SoHo, NoHo, G village, alphabet soup, and a couple others till we got to tired and hailed down a taxi.

Then while my mom got a manicure, my dad and i stood in line to get more tickets. We talked a bit about what we were going to get tickets for and in the end i won my dad over on the idea of seeing Sweeny Todd. I knew almost nothing about it but i had the vague idea that i saw a commercial for it once and liked it. Plus everything else that is good we had already seen. So I bought the tickets and we were off to pick up my mom and our luggage and then off to the new hotel and meet up with all of the choir people who were just getting into town.

When we got all of our stuff we realised we had a slight problem. We brought 1000 bags with us and it would take us forever to get 9 blocks with these bags. Mind you, in newyork going 9 blocks that are Street doesnt take but a mear matter of minutes, but going 9 avenues is a completely different thing all together, the blocks are much longer. No taxi cab driver in his right mind once to load up his taxi and take you 9 blocks. There is no money in it. Even though its a law that they have to take you if you ask them we saw five guys stop and then leave once we told them where we were going. Jerks!! So this hot girl on a bike with a little seat towing behind her says she can do it. We all wouldnt obviously fit on the seet so we loaded my mom up with all the bags and let her go while we walked carrying the few bags we couldnt fit with us. Loading up my mom on the cart was the funniest thing i have seen in a long time. What made it even funnier was watching the pour hot chick try and tow all the weight we had just loaded her with. Me and my dad laughed the whole time we were walking i wish i had taken a picture.

This trip has also taught me alot about myself when it comes to taking pictures. I dont do it. I dont like lugging around a digital camera. I dont even like taking my wallet but i figure thats a must. I def am not carrying my phone. So if you wanted to see pictures of this trip or i said i would take some i am sorry but thats just not happening. If you want to know what went on at a certain point ill try and describe it for you but thats about as best as you are going to get.

You may have noticed by now that i have not mentioned anything about, the statue of liberty, the empire state building or elise island. Thats because those are the stupidest things to go see while you are here. I promise you they look just like they did in ever picuture you have ever seen or movie. The empire state building is cool though, just dont ask anyone to marry you up there because that is romantic but way over done be original. Replaying your favorite scene from sleepless in seatle is also lame.

Where was i when i got off track? Oh yes, so we get our luggage into the new hotel which is the grand Hyatt and is supposed to be super classy. I think its just a big waist of money if you ask me but i didnt plan the trip. So our new hotel room is very nice but farther from Time Square and the theater district so it just means more walking for me. Once we got settled in we headed down to the theater and on the way stopped by Rockifeller center and looked at the fountain and whatnot.

Sweeny Todd

This show had the most impressive cast in all the musicals i have seen so far. The show was done with only 10 members and NO ORCHISTRA. The actors played all the instruments on stage!!! So not only could they act and sing but everyone in the cast played at least 2 or 3 instraments. There voices were amazing and they could play as well as sing and act there part, just amazing. The stage never changed props but they did move things around between scenes. It was very cool.

The show is a dark comedy about a barber who is a cut throat killer. Paying revenge for what happend to him. Ill try for a second to explain what the show was like. It is like a film noir, Lucky Number Sleven. They show you the ending and then everything happens and in the end you go, AHHHHH so that what that meant. If any of you have ever seen Into the Woods, it is another musical. The singing is much like that. One person will start a song and then another will join but what they are singing about has nothing to do with what the other person is saying. Sometimes it does most of the time it doesnt. Then a third will join in the song and you have to listen to all of them and what they are saying. The harmony is amazing and the words were easy to pick out because the diction from the actors was presise and crisp.

I left the show once again in awe. I LOVE BROADWAY!!!

On the way home we stopped at a rays and got some pizza. My legs at this point are like rocks and need to relax a bit so we head to the hotel and here i am writing. Tomorrow i will spend most of my dad in rehersal and then hopefully another show. Ill write more when it happends. good night.

You stay classy san diego.

New York ...Day 3!

I am so tired so i dont know if i can put the effort into this post that I did my others. I will try but there will be no spelling corrections or any revisions just like the others because once i am done writing it is lights out.

Today I woke up to world cup soccer and when you wake up to soccer its never a bad thing. US tried to kill the mood with there 11 year old soccer skills, but it wasnt enough. Problems at home put a good damper on things as well. The shop had more then a few problems which caused interuptions but they got everything worked out in the end and we didnt have to interupt our NYC time too bad.

After the game we were off to get some lunch and the tickets for the tonight show. We ate lunch in a chinese buffe/cafe time restaurant and we shared a table with a couple cute girls who just moved to the city to work at a firm. The food was good but the company was a bit shy. I tried starting up a conversation but it wasnt happening. I dont think they didnt want to talk i think its just that they were from NJ and people from NJ have 0 small talk skills.

When we got to the tonight show lines we found that they were having a segment called "Beat the band" where you sing a song that you know and see if the band knows it. Whether the band knows the song or not you get a bunch of crap (dvds and stuff) and a paid dinner to a nice restaraunt. Anyways my mom was soooooooo exited that they were doing it because thats her favorite. She sang for the person and they moved like 30 people aside who they liked. After that they narrowed it down to 7 people and she wasnt picked. I could tell she was disapointed and it would have meant alot to her if she could have sang on the tonight show.

Once we heard the songs that were picked we pretty much figured that her song wasnt stupid enough. Beautiful Beautiful Texas was her song. You dont know it!? Well, me either. She could also sing to well and they just wanted stupid camp songs. Which i happend to know plenty of. If i would have know then that the songs needed to be stupid i would have sang Mmm Eehhhh went the little green frog. It had hand signs and everything. I was a shoe in!!! to bad.

Once we got the the theater we had to wait in line for about 45 mins to get our tickets and do the auditions and what not. We had an hour to kill so we walked up to central park and walked around and then walked back. We stood up for about 2 hours. It was the most retarted thing ever! First you stand in line in the street and the interns there pump you up about the show. Saying stuff like "Are you exited to be at the Tonight Show? I cant hear you!" So of course we all scream and shout. We stood outside for at least 30 mins and then were led into a tiny tiny little room where they packed over a 300 people into it and we stood. For forever. My bad hurt my legs hurt and i couldnt move because we were stuffed into this room. If you are clostraphobic do not go see the show.

Finally a young kid (probably another intern) come out and tells some jokes and gets us pumped up for the 4th time. He leaves and we think we are going in. NOPE. not happening, we wait for another 30 mins, then they open the door. It never felt so good to move in my life. So as we are walking in the theater interns at the door are telling people to go upstairs and downstairs. I was so happy to be moving that they mistook the radient smile on my face for joy to be there and to scream at dave. So we got to sit up front in the third row :). The people in front of us must not have been smiling because they got sent to the balcony. Once you sit down you start clapping and dont stop for over an hour. Can you clap softly? Go ahead and try. You will notice that it takes just as much effort to do a full clap as it does to do a small one if you are going to a steady beat. My forarms at this point were going crazy.

I know i just harped on the whole show for over 3 paragraphs but the expirience was actually one i would def to again. The waiting wasnt as long as i made it seem and the clapping not so terribly bad. I got to see meril Streep or however you spell her name and that was pretty cool. Plus Yellowcard was there and i really liked there performance. My mom hated it.

After the late show it was off to the hotel. We went back a different way and that completed our tour of the time square area (25 blocks in all directions) for us. Yes we walked alot this trip i have yet to step into a cab (besides from the airport) or the subway. We will be riding the subway tomorrow. At the hotel we relaxed because dave tired the crap out of us. and watched some highlights of the world cup games we missed and the whole Rodger Clemens ESPN thing. It was a much needed break.

After we had rested our feet we were back onto the streets and on our way to the Lion King.

THE LION KING

I was blown away by this show. It was above and beyond anything i would have thought they could do. I mean how could they make all of the costumes look good? I couldnt see it in my mind. I kept thinking big stuffed mascots running around :). I guess i had low standards going in. I am glad though because after the first scene i was almost in tears, i know i am a wuss but i was moved. The lady that played and sang the begining song, the part where the guy goes NAAAAAA SPAPENA....... she was awsome!!! She spoke the african language fluently and you could tell when she sang. Every single person seemed to be made for there part. The guys who played Pumba and Timon were hysterical and had the voices down perfect. The african chants that went throughout the entire show were my favorite part and the harmony and cool instruments were just incredible.

I want to see it again but i dont think i will have the time. I wish i had the opportunity to see this type of show in austin. I would be there once a week :) If i do have time during the rest of the time i am here i will go see wicked again. Tomorrow we plan to see something else.

After the show we walked back to the hotel and on the way we stopped at a very nice italian restaurant, which i think we were under dressed for but i was not about to go the hotel and put on a suit and tie. They sat us anyways and we enjoyed a great meal. I had penne pasta with italian sausage and mushrooms (very good), my mom had the lobster ravioli (also good) and my dad had a steak which was great. I had a little of all of them of course and then we all had a different dessert which were wonderful.

I love the New York waiters here. My mom had a classic moment with our waiter tonight. She forgot what it was she wanted to order but started to hand the menu to the waiter at the same time. She started by saying she wanted a ravioli and they couldnt remember the rest but he finished with the lobster plate and she said no that wasnt it and tried to pull back her menu from the waiter who was having none of it and told her she would like the lobster. She said no again and he still held on the the menu and again recomended the lobster and finally my mom caved and said that that sounded nice. LOL! The whole akward moment happend in a matter of seconds but i found it very funny.

The whole new york no refill on your ice tea deal needs to stop. Hello i am from Texas and i will drink at least 5 cups of tea during a meal give or take the size of the cup. I refuse to buy your tea if you do not have refills i will just take water. Big jerks, tea is cheap and you can charge me 3 dollars for the cup with refills and i wont care but 2 dollars for a cup full of ice and two sips of tea is terms for hanging in Texas.

Tomorrow we change Hotels and meet up with everyone else from Round Rock who are just heading up so that will take up some time in the morning. Then its Ground 0 (world trade toweres) and then we talk back hitting little italy, china town, the G village. and whatever else is over there.

until tomorrown. gnight.

New York Day 2.

I woke up today to the sounds of soccer on the TV. When i awoke to the sound of the announcer going crazy as Portugal scored in the 5th minute of there match against mexico, I grinned with exitment because i knew what the day had in store. We took our time waking up watching the entire mexico game, which was beautiful soccer. Portugal playing 5 starters down, were still playing a great game, spreading out the field and making world cup quality passes. Mexico hung with them and it should have been a tie but they shanked the equilazing penalty kick.

When the game was over we got dressed and headed out to walk the streets. My mom had wanted to go to the only quilting shop in NYC, which doesnt sound exiting at all seeing that its 30 blocks away uphill both ways :) . maybe not up hill but its still along way for a quilt shop but she was soo giddy and happy that i enjoyed every second of it and the shopping. I picked out a couple different patterns that i liked and i will even get a quilt out of it. She is amazing to so that in itself was worth the trip 5 times.

On the way there we stoped and shopped but i didnt buy anything. My mom bought some stuff for everyone she knew and there friends. We stoped at a local diner and I had a sandwich that was cheap and filling. My parents had a salad that was prepared in the coolest way. You walk in and they have just various sizes of containers full of letuce. You pick what size you like and then you hand it to a man behind a wall of glass and in front of him are 30 different things full of salad goodies. He snares at you for standing in awe because he is from NY and that what locals do. Once you get over the fact that there are four kinds of feta cheese to choose from you start pointing and he loads up your salad. Then it goes to another guy who has 30 different salad dressings in front of him and again...the stares and the nervousness of picking fast and then the HURRY IT UP ALREADY! from the local on lunch break. Point and pay. In the end its not that much for what you get and its goood.

After the quilt shop and lunch me and my dad have to find some Ice tea that doesnt have the work Brisk anywhere in the definition. We just happend to find a chipotle and hop in and get us the best and cheapest tea in all of NY. Brewed to the bitterly dark perfection that I like in my tea. We sat in there and watched the NY life walk past the window and talked of old times when my dad used to come to NY often for work. My mom was taking her time in the quilt shop and we just sat and drank tea. It was a great break from all the walking.

When my mom finished what she called "an early Christmas" with one very full and large bag, which i got to so graciously lug all the way back to the hotel. It was no big deal though because i was walking on clowds the whole day. We were off to the hotel and the to Wicked.

WICKED

Way better then the book. Not even a close call. The singing was amazing the acting was amazing. We had seets in the top of the theater but its wasnt a big theater so it was not a big deal. I heard and saw everything with a retaredly big grin on my face. Elphaba and Glinda both had the most amazing voices. Thats all i can think to write about it. I could write an entire blog about how the book is so much different from the play but the play was so much better its just not worth the effort. Go see the Musical its amazing. The end of the first act was my favorite (the defying gravity song).

The show we went and saw was just a matinee so we still had over half the day left for us to run around. We stoped at various delies for these wierd crasaunt things that were covered in chocolate and powedered sugar but it was dry and not very good. My dad got a pound cake that had to have weighed at least a pound and since my food wasnt any good i ate some of that. When we came of the the deli we heard a guy yelling at us. At first when i heard what he was saying I thought that he was joking or it was a hoax because i had tried for the last month to get David Letterman tickets. But to my exitement i was wrong. My mom rushed over and answered the questions and got it right and we now have tickets tomorrow to the tonight show. That was pretty cool to. Tomorrow we have to go and pick up our tickets and since my mom was so happy to get tickets the guy who filled out our form to let us get tickets put an extra star by my moms name and told her to smile and we should get front row seats.

After that we headed over to see what we could get tickets to for the evening show. We went the the TKTS place that sells half price tickets that didnt sell over the internet and found 3 orch. seat to Beauty and the beast. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!!! So we got the tickets and walked around for a bit and into different touristy type shop and i found some cool gifts for friends at home. I didnt buy any yet but i found what i was looking for. Also Ipod nanos that normally sell for 150 are selling for 125 and thats before you even start the haggling, so i will def walk away with one of those before i come home.

After walking around for awhile and we went to see the evening show. Our seats were amazing. The theater was smaller then the last one and it was full of familys with there kids. Beauty and the beast was everything i expected. Gaston and his little dork buddy were the funniest guys. He played the part perfectly. Belle i have determined is perfect. She can sing, she loved to read, her dad is an inventor so you know if they had computers she would love those and to top it all off she is beautiful, hence her name. To bad she is fictional.

When the show ends its about 1030 and i am starting to really get hungry again. So we stick with the them for the day and head to a little deli. This deli happened to be a little more famous then all the others, Carnegie deli. We got what can only be described as a side of cow in the flavor of roast beef and corn steak or something like that. I dont remember what we orderd i wasnt in charge of that...i was incharge of eating and boy did i have a big task ahead of me. I ended up finished half of my dads and some of my moms and then a strawberry cheesecake. It was the best cheesecake i will ever eat. I had the perfect consistancy and melted in my mouth. The strawberrys were huge and very flavorful. The size of the cheesecake as well was stagering, at least the size of my hand and about 3 inches tall. I ate ever last bit of it.

The walk back to the hotel was a long walk and i was happy and full, so i needed a good walk before i got back to the hotle and started writing. I hope i got everything but even as i write there is more that comes to my head, but my fingers are getting tired and i have another long day ahead of me tomorrow (USA plays, David letterman, Lion king and of course all of our meals). So i will say goodnight and ill type more tomorrow.

New York Baby!!!

Well it was a rough start. I got everything packed last night and headed over to my parents house to crash for the evening. Things didnt start to go bad till Whitney got home (my sister). She didnt get home till 130, not a problem but she didnt come home to go to sleep she brought her friends with her to "hang out". At two in the morning when we have to wake up at 430 and did i mention that her freinds are all over 6 foot black guys. I am not a racist person but these guys dress spot on to a steriotype. Basketball jersys, pick in there fro, and pants to the floor. They looked like they were my age or older. Whit is 19. I have a big problem with this.

My parents are asleep and whit is bringing home strangers. Is it not ok for me to ask them to leave? Because thats exactly what I did. They ended up sticking around for another 45 mins saying goodbye or making out with whit, I dont know i was in the other room and we too pissed off to care. Its soo hard for me to even like my sister and that makes me sad. I know she cant help it in a way but i dont know how else to handle her. She wants to be a grown up so bad but she doesnt have the knowledge or just plain brains to be one. She is stuck in the 8th grade. She is constantly putting other people in danger. Yes i consider bringing home strangers danger to the family.

Anyways they finally left the house but I couldnt go to sleep. I was too worked up. So when it was time to wake up and head to the airport I was starting to really get tired. We dropped off whit at the bus station and sent her to my aunts while we are gone because she cant be home alone (what a nightmare). After we saw her off, Cesar, dropped us off at the airport and we had a fun adventure going through the metal detectors, which i didnt know this because i havent flown in awhile but you pretty much strip to go through those things now, showing your ID to everyone between your bag checkin till you board the plane. It took about 45 mins and was pretty interesting but it woke me up so i consider it a good thing.

Jet Blue is awsome!!! Everyone gets a tv and a remote (on the armrest) and you get to watch anything you want. It wasnt like you only had 3 chanels, there were like 30 and 4 espn channels: espn, espn2, Classic, and News. Espn was showing hockey replay of the final game of the stanley cup, espn 2 showed World Cup games, Classic had bowling on and News had sports center on. Needless to say it was an easy flight and i was having lots of fun switching channels. The only problem i would say i had was that the seats were leather, and thus after awhile i got sweaty behind my legs and back..i hate leather seats, but it wasnt too big of a problem just a bother.

We arrived with no delays or anything, it was a straight flight, our bags were the first off of the belt and we grabbed a cap and 30 mins later we were at the hotel settling in. What a blessing to have everything go so smooth. Once we were all settled in we watched a little soccer and then went to eat lunch at Bubba Gumps. Its a cool place, i have eaten at the one on the Navy peir before in Chicago, both were exactly the same. Goood food and good service. Also a good location right down in time square next to our hotel :). I didnt take any pics but i plan to tomorrow.

After walking around and spending some time in a park that was near by we planned to watch the game (dallas) at the ESPN zone, but they were having some sort of private party and no one was alowed in. There were at least 10 limos outside the place. So we went to Dave and busters but they were to crowded!! So to say our feet and me, at this point i havent slept in forever and am dead tired, we just settle for applebeas bar. We get a great dinner and a couple drinks while we watch the first half before heading back to the hotel.

It was a great day and i am spent. I wanted to write everything down before i forgot it all because so much is happening I am bound to forget most of it. Now that it is written its lights out.

Ill write more tomorrow night.

Wait for it.....wait for it.....NOW!!!!

I dont know whats up with gizmo, but everytime I lay down for two seconds she wants to come fall asleep on my stomach. Once i go to bed and am settled for the evening, its time to play "lets see what part of my body we can attack that is sticking out of the covers" So I end up sleeping like a cacoon with gizmo running around tearing everything up and make noise so i cant sleep. She needs to get on the same sleep schedule!! Yesterday a foot slipped out of the covers while i was aleep and when i woke up it looked as if i had walked barefoot through briarthorn. You would think i would wake up during something like that but no.

This week i saw two movies. One good one, one bad. Ill name the two movies and let you think about which one i thought was good and which one i didnt like. Underworld Evolution, and Grandmas Boy. I know what you are thinking. Both have to be good (sarcasm). Make your pic now because here is what i though.

I really liked the first Underworld. Then end fight was a little cheese but the over all story i though was pretty cool. The second one was no good. It wasnt horrible but I wouldnt recomend it to anyone. Ill list some good things about it first.

- It started off right where the first one ended. I like that alot in movies it makes them much more enjoyable and they are able to do more with it because they have already built up the story and can go further in telling us about the story without having to backtrack and tell you want happend "in between movies".
- Kate Beckensale is what I envision as a perfect woman. She is just beautiful. Add a tight leather outfit and well she is just amazing. moving on.
- The story wasnt bad. I liked the plot and what happend I just didnt like the way they carried it out.

Dislikes:

- Everyone in this movie is SUPER!!! I mean the bad guys were the first of there kind so they are almost invinsible but the good guy who is a hybrid is supposed to be invisible and kate is cant die so she is pretty much invisible. What does this make? Pretty crappy fight scenes. This was my biggest problem with the movie. The fight scene was pretty retarted and thats what you go to a shootem up movie, for the cool effects and fight scenes.
- There is a sex scene in this movie. That as far as the plot goes so far. Has nothing to do with the movie. I know shocker. I just hate it when they add uneeded sex to movies. Really i do.
- The ending was over before it began. It was the worst ending since Kong. Seriously I may watch this again with kevin just so we can make fun of it "Sound of thunder" style.

So I give Underworld a 1 out of 10.

Grandmas boy howerver was awsome!! I laughed the entire time. There are tons of great one liners. I watched it twice yesterday. I would suggest watching it with a friend you can joke around with and not your mom.

In other news, B got the new Death cap cd and its pretty good stuff. None of the songs really stand out but its a great driving or chillin cd.

Wendys at 2am? ...not a good idea

To tell it short and simple. I got hungry on the way home from bowling and 4 hours later i threw it all up. Its been awhile since my last good puke and let me tell you. I hope i go awhile before my next one. To spare you any detials, lets just say it wasnt pretty but i made it to the toilet so it made clean up easier.

Yesterday the poonwhatever the rest of our name is. I dont know what it means but i am sure there is a story behind it. For now ill just call us the poons because thats all i remember. We have a pretty good squad, besides that fact that half of us are way out of shape but we played a great game yesterday. We lost 8-7 but its hard to win when every single one of there shots that they put on goal go in. I am sure next week we will do better.

World cup action has been keeping me busy at work. Its fun to see everyone at lunch gathered around our one tv at work and watching the game...in spanish :). I am watching in my office on my computer but the bad thing about it is the lag. I am about 30 seconds delay to the spanish channel. Which isnt bad because I get to hear the comentary in english but I hear a YAY!! and a thunderous applause from the other room and a distand GOL!!! GOL!!!! GOL!!! from the spanish channel and then 30 seconds later I get to see it. So thats kind of a bummer but i guess you have to take the good with the bad.

Would you like Zucchini with that?

Ever since we moved from Cali to Texas we have had a garden. The first house we moved into we went crazy and had a huge garden. It was problably a 30 foot square full of squash, zucchini, onions, tomatos, beans, watermelon, if it grows in texas we had it. We even tried growing a couple acres of corn but all we got out of that is bugs. I have never seen so many bugs in my life. As a kid that field gave me nightmares. You would think that out of two acres of corn there would have been at least a handfull of corn to eat, but no i never saw any corn come out of there. Just giant scary looking beatles (full body shiver).

The garden my dad has now is alot smaller but is overabundant. He grew a two foot long zucchini that weighed in at 3lb. For my Truco fans, it looked like a basto. This thing was huge, and of course like a kid who caught his first bug, he brought it to work to show everyone :). When they get that big they lose alot of their good flavor so cutting them up and makeing something with them isnt the greatest idea but this one is perfect for stuffing so i think thats what he is going to do. Stuff it with mushrooms, onions, chicken and maybe some cut up bacon. that sounds good.

These plants not only produce huge zucchini but every day there are 8 more ready to be picked. We have zucchini everywhere. We are inventing new recipes. Zucchini in tortilla soup is good. Zucchini in every caserol you can think of. Would you like it in your egg or on a plate? how about fried up and stuffed in a crape? I think it would be nice in a stew. or stuffed with lamb, recipe cordon blue.

Ok, enough of that. Anyways, if you want to know what i have been eating latley there is a good chance it involves zucchini or some thing else from the garden.

YEP...its official.....

So, first I was confused why wasnt there a tab for titles? Then I was happy that I wasnt crazy for not seeing it, but sad that I couldnt put titles to my documents and I do love titling things. Now, I am just sad that I am retarted but happy because I have my titles back. Thanks Rachel and your blogging expertise.

And now a limierick for yall to enjoy.

There once was a man named pugh
Who always knew what to do
Unless driving across states
he gets lost in dire straits
with never a thought that was blue

Ehh its my first one. I can only get better :).

I am SO pissed right now. 0-3, we lose. I don't know where we got the idea that we need to dribble the ball or pass it into the six yard box to score but we sure as hell tired the entire game. I mean come on...This ball that they are using in the world cup is a knuckle ball. The thing moves sooo much in the air. Take shots from 30 yards out. None of the goalies in the world cup are having any success of stopping it, besides Trinidad keeper who is just amazing.

I know that the poor playing made me a little sab but what really upset me was our lack of emotion. Its the world cup!!! Start yelling, get someone pissed, take a good player of theirs out at half field to get some emotion back into the team. I want some crying after the next game if we perform as bad as we did this time. Give me something to know that you care.

I could go on and on about how our team performed below expectations but I am done venting now. The Czech team is number two in the world for a reason and they came out in full force. We are still in the tourny, we just need to buckle down and play our game in the up coming games.

Way off topic. I found that my template doesn't allow me to have titles.

Ok...first thing. How do you make a title to a post on this thing? I think i might be retarted and am just not seeing something obvious but i dont know how to title a post. Now, If i have to just write the title myself inside the post....thats retarted. I hope is just me because i dont want to have to do the extra work on every post.

Today was awsome. I slepted threw all of the world cup games. Normaly this would be a bad thing but sleep is very very important to me and i enjoyed ever second of it. When i woke up i got a call from steven giving me the recap on the days highlights which was nice because i dont have cable. The at some point later on in the night I left to go play some soccer down in Westlake. Driving to westlake is not a fun thing, but finally feeling like i have my legs back and can play again...that my friends is priceless.

Over a year ago I played on a mens league with my Dad and two brothers. First game of the second season with them I take off on a break away and here a pop. The worst sound ever! I kept trying to run, which i am sure made things worse, but the pain was too much and i hit the groud. My hamstring was all balled up. It was a lovely blue black color and i knew i was done for the season. It ended up being well over a season before i could do anything again and a good bit longer before i got my fat ass off the compter chair and run around. So earlier this week i went and kicked a ball around with kevin. I could still feel my leg. I know that sounds stupid but what i mean by that is i could still feel where it hurt. Tonight for the first time in two years i could actually kick the ball like i used to. It felt really good and i had a blast.

After all the soccer fun i went out with an old friend who is in town. Wayne, my pokemon playing Monopoly champion friend. He is a beast at any consol or board game. I had not seen this kid in over a year. Well, i cant remember when i last saw him but it was awhile ago. It felt like old times. Wayne, Jennifer, jenkins and i went to cap city to see Rodney Carrington. He didnt show up though, which is sad. In all fairness though we had no clue he was even performing. But the guy who replaced him was just as funny, so it was no big deal.

This weekend has worn me out.....im off to bed.

So I decided that I was going to move my blog from Myspace to here. I don't know what it is about myspace but I am just tired of it and wanted a change. Maybe is the whole immature feel of myspace. I don't know how this will be much better but I can promise you I wont put up any scandalous pictures of me in my undies.

The world cup started today at 10:30, work didn't necessarily stop but there was not many of us doing anything productive. We answered the occational phone call and I wrote out a few orders but other then that it was World Cup time! We had one TV showing Univision because that's the only way we get the game and another computer showing ESPN threw my moms Slingplayer. For those of you who don't know what that is. A slingplayer connects to your cable at home and then you can control your cable from any computer. It is very convenient for situations like this. I think she uses it to burn her knitting shows to a DVD :).

Every Country but the US has a national holiday today. Kids are out of school businesses are closed, unless you own pub and everyone is together to route on your team. What about America? Nope, of course not. Not for soccer, the nations number one youth sport!!! I understand that this probably wont change any time soon but its still sucks when most of our country wont even watch the highlights on ESPN. They will be watching reruns of Survivor or some other stupid reality show.

I believe that soccer is the number one sport in the world and will always be for one reason. Everyone can play. Its that simple, you can be 8 feet tall or 2 feet tall. If you don't have the skill to kick a ball while running then it doesn't matter how big you are. There are no steroids that will make you a better player then everyone else. You don't have to be a freak of nature to be "the next big thing". You don't even have to have shoes :) . Its a game for everyone and involves everyone. That is why baseball, football or basketball will always be American sports, other counties may play them but soccer will always be number one.
